Discussion Time: Best Female Protagonist

Evening all. The Paralympics have ended and with this brilliant event drawing to a close, we should all try to remember what’s really important…….. England won 27 more gold medals then Canada. A tad petty, I know but I’m looking to the positives.

Right, I think it’s time to get a bit of debate and discussion going so this week we start a new segment where we tackle questions close to the hearts of all us geek folk. I’ll make this a weekly thing if it gets some momentum.

So this week’s question. Who do you think is the best female protagonist in geeky media and storytelling?

When I say geeky media, I basically mean all the media that’s fun. Computer games, comic books, cartoons, sci-fi and fantasy TV, movies and books. You know, the good stuff.

Who do you think is best? Why? What makes them your number one pick?

My vote goes for Olivia Dunham from the sci-fi TV series, Fringe. There’s a habit of making strong female characters in positions of authority overly masculine or angry. I think the writers and actress have done a brilliant job of creating a clearly feminine character that doesn’t feel out of place giving orders or kicking someone’s head in.

Alright, your turn. Who’s the best leading lady of geek culture in your opinion?

Share your views and I’ll see you next week!

PS. I swear to god, anyone says Bella from Twilight and my hatred for you might just be strong enough to kill you from half the world away.

Geek Trip Maps: Toronto

Spent this week finishing up editing on Geek Trip Maps, if you’re coming to Toronto, Canada and wanna find your fix for comics and games, it’s a pretty damn good start if I do say so myself.
