Hell hath no fury like Oatmeal scorned

(Sorry this one’s a day late, I slept through Monday.)

Has anyone else being following the slow-motion self-buggering that is the Oatmeal vs FunnyJunk (now the Oatmeal vs Charles Carreon) legal battle?

For those who don’t know, The Oatmeal is a comic comedy website created by Matthew Inman. Even if you’re not aware of the website, chances are you’ve seen his work in one place or another parooseing the internet.

Just in case you’ve missed the fun so far…

Initial stupidity

It gets better

No. It doesn’t look like they’re stopping, does it?

I don’t think Inman even finds this funny anymore

It’s quite a sight. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone dig them self into a hole quite so efficiently as this Lawyer has.
It’s like watching someone try to steal a wallet by pushing their hand through a wood chipper to reach it. You’re not getting the money so you should probably quit now while you still have some arm (arm being indicative of dignity) left.

The best bit so far has been the cheetah-like speed with which the Web has started ripping this unsuspecting boob to pieces. I’m not usually a fan of sucker-punches but the utter befuddlement of Carreon at the internet’s backlash has been quite funny.

I don’t know either of these people so you can never be 100% sure who’s in the right but if everything is as described, Inman’s handling this like some kind of mad genius and it’s looking like this Lawyer is starting to crack under the pressure.

I can sort of picture him sat in an arm chair loudly proclaiming “Sue them too! Sue EVEYBODY!!” then madly cackling to himself, Joker style. I wouldn’t be too shocked if the next thing I heard of him was a news story about how he had to be tranquilised after being found dancing on top of Inman’s car in a chicken suit.

And what’s the moral to take away from this story?…

DON’T FUCK WITH THE INTERNET

When this loose conclave of geeks and nerds focus their contempt on one thing, they could cut a mountain in half with that laser beam of boundless hatred.

See you next week!
